The EPO is now fully certified
under the ISO standards for management systems pertaining to quality (ISO 9001);
information security (ISO 27001); and occupational health and safety (ISO
45001). This reflects our total commitment to providing users of the patent
system with the highest quality of products and services, as well as to
creating the optimal working environment for our employees and achieving
operational excellence.
Recent ISO audits formally
recognised that we have implemented a range of best practices in line with
international standards. As a result, the scope of ISO 9001 on quality management,
which has covered the patent granting process since 2014, has been extended to
the entire EPO’s quality management system. And for the first time,
certification of our information security management system (ISO 27001) was
achieved. The audits also led to the maintenance of certification first
obtained two years ago for our occupational health and safety management system
(ISO 45001).
Certification is certainly not
the end of the story, but another landmark in an ongoing journey of continuous
improvement, where we enhance the value of the products and services we deliver
to users. The renewal of our certification in the years to come will firmly
reflect our sustained commitment to excellence.
